Will Be Nice To See A Piano Roll

Although this is a tracker software, but it will be very nice to see a piano roll.

More easy to program chords and melodies.

but. pianoroll is more efficient for melodies. i think this is a great idea because i mainly use MT for beats if it had a piano roll it could easily stand up to any other sequencing software on the market. from a more commercial standpoint that is.

i wouldnt mind an easier drum kit thing, but maybe im just lazy.

Exactly, if you want to have high resolution that's easy to zoom out and in, pianoroll is unbeatable..

The tracker interface is for total control though.

.. a proffesional sequencer can't be without a pianoroll or similar I believe..

Arranging on a piano roll is pretty straightforward. You can simply move the notes around the whole timeline of the complete song. In a tracker you need to take care of the patterns and how they work together. You need to have an idea of the sequence of the patterns. Pattern grouping would be nice too (in the list, e.g. Patterns 1-4 (Intro), 5-9 (Variation), 10-14 (Mainpart),etc.). Just an idea. Coming back to the piano roll I really would like to see this in Madtracker Smile.

I have only seen the pianoroll in cakewalk, and I have only viewed it, never messed around with it. Ive always preferred pattern window in trackers to the pianoroll in cakewalk. cakewalk's pianoroll was confusing to me.

The easiest way to see pianoroll is to attach casters.

Nope.

The pianoroll has nothing to do with being able to see all the notes of a song at once.

You could make a tracker program in which you are able to zoom in and out and also see all the notes at once, if you made it so that you where able to edit all the patterns continusly.

A pianoroll in a tracker that only have editing of one pattern at once, would only be able to show a pianoroll page of one pattern.

But I agree a good pianoroll with nice shortcuts is sometimes better than a pattern.

The best pianoroll suggestion I have seen is the one made by vectrex for Aero studio.

if you ask me, you should get over the whole 'i think this should be easier' thing.. i have to agree with xnme's idea. it's tracking. if it was meant to be a piece of cake, they'd call it magix music maker.. i quite enjoy the difficulty level. running into problems and trying to find a way around them, to get the desired sound is lots of fun..

i also enjoy running into brick walls Razz..

(serious about most of what i said though.)

I for one are all for the idea with a piano roll, it's just a must for some music styles (imo). and I also think this war between tracking and other sequenzer application should have died a long time ago, why don't use the best out of two worlds. madtracker 2.5 has gone beyond what I thought was possible with the 2.x series and it will really be a great peice of software.

But I mean, someone have to take the next step in software of music production, and I surley hope we will se that step with, amongs other things, a piano roll in mt3.

yah

i think MT is already worth its code in gold. great program.
when i first started this a year ago. i was already pleased. now. it has surpassed what i thought it could be..

but... a pianoroll would still be 1337
