It's hard to find/remember midi CC numbers for the fabulous new Mt2 command, CC XXYY.

Since Madtracker.org already has a plugin database with info about many known plugins, why not include a list of all the parameters & CC#s for each plugin?

There are the standard MIDI CC that are listed on the page I mentioned in your previous thread.
And there are the manufacturer-specific MIDI CC that have to be provided by... the manufacturer. Smile If you don't see any readme or picture showing the CC, then there must be none available (besides the standard ones maybe).

Is that, you could type CC C0 10 to select the GM organ on channel 1, for example? Even on a real instrument connected to an MPU401 interface? If so, how does MadTracker know the size of the MIDI command, ie. 1 or 2 parameter bytes? And what about SysEx?

I didn't see any page mentioned in your response to the other thread. You mean the next/prev note find/vstfx one, right?

Anyway, I was thinking the CC# database could be more like a wiki, where the users would add information for various plugins as they found it. I'll go look around for some now...

Pucone: good idea! Please post here if you have the idea that such a database could be filled with commands for various plugins.

What´s the difference between controlling a vst(i) via midi cc or via automation. Are there more options with midi cc?

It's like using automation for the instrument cutoff vs changing the cutoff with a pattern commands. The automation is smoother and easier.
Normally there shouldn't be any difference with VST plugins.

Very tight changes in volume from one line to another is a bit tricky todo with the automation. It isnt possible to select, cut or paste portions of the automation and repeat them. If you use CC commands you can e.g. acchieve a gapper effect by controling the volume. Like the Axx effect for usual tracks.

I found the link Yannick spoke of, in a thread create by Inge about pattern fx with VSTi. Here it is:
