This is absurd. I remember waiting around for Madtracker 3 to come out years ago. I had completely forgotten it existed until I found some old MT2s on a backup disk from when I used it regularly. "Oh cool I bet madtracker 3 is out by now. I haven't checked in two years."

Nope.

Why can't you just make a simple base program and add all the extra features as plugins at a later date? You could even allow other people to write plugins!

That's what MT3 is intended to be actually. Wink

I decided to make MT 2.5 to make the wait of MT3 smoother. Try it out...

well, if VST's will be supported (which I guess they will since mt2.5 supports them), then I don't see a point in creating your own plugin format for madtracker3. You can get all the effects in VST allready. Besides, if you want people to start making plugins then you'd have to create some sort of SDK for the plugins too...

MT3 without plugins will be nothing actually. You'll be able to have other types of patterns, commands, interfaces, etc.

Nice. Very Happy I hope we'll be able to arrange layers of patterns, then.

Arranging layers of patterns... What do you mean?

I know I want ONE thing quite badly, besides automatic instrument creation:

The ability to select a number of patterns, copy them, and paste them so they get added to the song.

I mean a pattern sequence arranger that uses more than one track, so you can layer them just like samples in Cooledit multitrack or cubase etc... So you can create complex patterns, eg, a complex strings pattern sequence repeated over a complex drums pattern sequence, over a complex vocal pattern sequence, ... it's hinted that this will happen in the new screenshots. ...which I can't find right now... Ahh. Nice... and then a pattern with mp3 acapella beside em, that plays from what time it is in the track regardless if it was triggered on that pattern or not... Then I'd be happy!!

That would be nice, however I would like to see it somewhat different. I like the way it is now, it sometimes gives a taste of a pattern without an pre-triggerd loop/sample.
So maby it would be possible to bounce 'tracked tracks' to 'wav tracks' wich then should play from whatever position you start.

This would also help with CPU intensive VST plugins, just bounce the track to wave and arrange it in the track...

oh that would be SWEET!
