MadTracker Compo 2005 kicks off!

Time has come for the 4th big competition to take place at MadTracker.org!
You have amazed us and the audience last year with your quality entries. We hope you will be as many and as talented as last year to compete - if not more!

This 4th competition is a unique event since it will be the first tracking competition ever to allow the use of VST plugins. To celebrate this, we have found some very respectable producers of VST plugins who have donated some of this year's prizes.

Update:
New prizes: The 3 winning tracks will be professionally mastered, and one AKG K271 Studio joined the prizes list.

Nice prices:D

Damn... Going to miss the free mda vst effects pack in this compo:( I'm using it all the time now, but I guess I have to manage without...

I thought only free vsti's was allowed in this compo? How to listen to the entries with costing vsts?

Anyhow, nice that the compo has finaly started and good luck to everyone!Very Happy

Where exactly did you see the usage of non-free plugins?

Right. Now I see:

http://www.madtracker.org/plugins.php?type=vst&id=2050192481
http://www.madtracker.org/plugins.php?type=vst&id=1329756506

Consider these out until further notice. Apparently some persons did vote for the z3ta and we missed that while compiling the final list. The Ohmboyz is another story, but that one will also be left out. Guess we forgot about that one Embarassed

Change them out with:

1: mda Leslie.dll by mda
2: Stereo by mda

Both very small and free vsts:D
That would make me happy atleast:D
(Its almost impossible to use synth1 without some stereo effects, since it has none)

there are a couple of plugins in there that really aren't useful, like FFX-4 by VB-Audio. It's a dx wrapper, and we're not allowed to use dx plugins right? Also there are two buffer override plugins in the list, one mono and one stereo. I could think of many plugins i'd rather have instead of one of those (i guess the mono one).

Other then that, all looks awesome!

more: the link to the FreeAlpha plugin by Linplug is incorrect, it should be: http://www.linplug5.com/CD/PC%20Free/FreeAlphaInstaller.exe

woops, my edit made no sense. so deleted.

Ofcourse you can use the 'New Engine' option.
It just affects the playback of madtracker on your pc, it doesn't affect others.

The EQ is there Smile
However an simple autofilter is missing...

But, you can create similar effects by using filter envelopes on your samples.
The file limit is 50MB ( compressed ) so there's more then enough room to sample your favorite VST plugin that's not in the list and use it within your compo track.

About the plugins, I will contact each developers to have the permission to put them in a pack on MT.org. And if all goes well, I'll put the whole Classic collection in the pack.

About z3ta... if the demo is not too limited, it's ok with me.

OK, to avoid problems we will drop these 3 plugins:
- z3ta
- Ohmboys
- FFX4

I'll make the changes on the compo page tomorrow.

If you want one or more plugins to replace them, shout it out loud here! Wink
