Instrument and Sample - where do you go?

I got a problem...

I got an instrument as an VST plugin on the instrument slot 4.

Then I put a new instrument on slot 5.
Then I load a sample to instrument 5.
The sample goes, attached to slot 4, where the vst plugin is,
the slot 5 remains empty.

I think it is a bug, or maybe I do not understand.
It is the final version 2.5.0.

Please help? is any workaround temporarly?

I`m not sure I understand you correctly - but I would reload the sample in instrument 5. If it for some reason wont load - then I would delete the whole instrument and create it again from scratch.

I would create a new song, and then create a new song from scratch. Works for me...

How do you load the sample into madtracker? What interface do you use? do you:

A) click the add new instrument icon under the Instrument tab and then move to the Sample tab to load the sample from there.

B) click the add new instrument icon, double click the newly created instrument in order to open the Instruments window and then load the sample from there.

my guess is you're using the A method to load your sample in which case it will just load the sample into the first instrument that doesn't have a sample attached to it already. Since VSTi's don't count as a sample, the sample you're trying to load to instr.05 gets loaded into instr.04 (VSTi) as the program sees it as empty (no sample).

You can reassign the sample to instr.05 simply by double-clicking instr.05 in the Instrument tab, then click the + at the top. In the list that opens you'll see all samples that have been loaded into your module so far. Just pick the one you want to assign to this instrument and you're set. Wink

Personally, I use the faster version of B to load my samples, which is to first create a new instrument, then click the small black down-arrow to the right of the new instrument icon. This opens a dropdown-list from which I can select load sample. The sample loaded here will automatically get assigned to the instrument just created (since it's selected in the Instrument list by default, unless you've selected another instrument in the meantime).
