It is quite simple to determine the exact BPM of a sample, BUT , how to adapt this same sample to a diffirent BPM without pitching it up (chipmunks effect  ).
Is there a way to get the right bpm without f*cking the vocals etc to much up, i was thinking 'bout an application or vst ?! Or any other way to get it done ... without spending hours and hours cutting the sample in pieces 
Anyone ? |

Acid. It can beatmap a sample, stretch it (without much audible artefacts, although this depends on the amount of stretching done), and works quite intuitively. Downside: it costs money.
I think Audicity will also have a stretch-function. Most wave editors have such a thing. There are also some vst plugins that do such a thing, but I don't advice to do these things realtime. |

Okay,
I'm downloading the free trial of acid and research the possibilities according Stretching.
If i want to use VST for the stretching, i won't be in Madtracker though, realtime stretching would use up to much cpu anyways 
I'm wondering , since it's called stretching, if it is possible to convert from lower bpm to higher, anyway i will try the products.

Edit: With the suggestions of Inge and some googling i've found propellerheads' recycle, like DUH, that's really the app i'm looking for . So i hardly can't wait to drive home and try it ....
But first ... some work has be done over here

I have it installed quite a while but didn't really explore the possebillities of it ...
update : KEWL !!!!  that works like a charm , the only thing is to determe the original BPM , but that shouldn't be the problem .... |

Here Acid does miracles. Acid works really nice for this purpose, but then again is dreadfully expensive. The alternative is placing the loop in MadTracker, putting something like a hihat underneath, and check how you should change the bpm to make it fitting. Kinda difficult and time-consuming, but it does the trick. |

That's exact the way i did it before, now i have an BPM counter who does the trick perfectly ... just a little nifty prog... |

a bit offtopic, but...
Have you guys ever listened to some tracks by 'The MFA'?
They use for example short baseline loops of 2 beats long.
Then they play a bassline with it, one note each bar/measure, so the bassline's pitch gets transposed but it isn't stretched so the loop plays out of tempo.
Realy wicked effect, oldschool tracker style, and it funk's like hell
