Perhaps your mailprogram has kept a copy of the file/mail that you sent to Yannick? If you are using Outlook - check the "SENT ITEMS" folder.

Sorry to hear that. Sad

Well, try to send me the defect song, and I'll have a look at it. I hope I'll be able to determine why you can't load it anymore.

Xnme, I found the bug. Your MT2 file is not currupted. But there was an overflow in MT2 because you used too many labels (their total length was too big).

I will send you a fixed exe of MadTracker.

What do you mean saying: labels? You mean track names?

It's not really a matter of how many labels you use. But how long they will be together.

Btw, I fixed the winamp plugin as well. It couldn't read your MT2 because the song message was too big. Rolling Eyes

hmmm, I think I had the same issue as XnmE right now with a tune I just started. The tune has been on my HDD for ages, but yesterday I started to work on it again, made a few changes to some tracks, added some samples etc. Today I haven't done much to the tune, except label the tracks(!). It opened fine this morning. I started to label tracks, shifted a few notes here and there, saved the tune and started to listen to some other tunes, and now when I tried to re-open the tune I was working on I couldn't Sad MT just hangs, doesn't do anything, no error messages nothing. The splashscreen is the only thing that shows up. When I right click on Madtracker on the taskbar to close it, windows throws a nice "Program is not responding" message at me, then closes MT. All other tunes that I've tried since open just fine.

But, I tried with opening the tune in MT2.2 and it worked! I was able to re-save the tune in MT2.2 (only used 32 channels so far, so no channels were lost in the process), and now it opens in 2.3RC1 just fine again. Only thing changed is that the track labels are gone.

ok, so my situation wasn't as bad as XnmE's, but if the total track label lenght was the issue here also (which I think is the case), then I do think you need to allow for a longer total of the labels, Yannick. I didn't use any long labels (think the longest was "hihat closed"), and only about 26 of the 32 channels were labeled (with about similar lenght labels). So if the idea is that all 64 channels can be labeled with proper labels, not just some cryptic abreviations like HHCls, then the limit will be reached pretty soon Wink

This must be the same problem. The fact that MT2.2 is working fine is because it ignores the labels and skip them. If MT2.3 crashes it's because the buffer to contain all the labels is too small, and I didn't check for the size of the input. This is a common mistake made by bad programmers (or programmers in a hurry like me). Laughing

Try to re-save the song in MT2.2 then re-open it in MT2.3 (if you didn't use more than 32 tracks). This should bypass the problem, but your labels will be gone. Sad

I will make a RC2 soon then - or probably the final.
