i've got the hang of samples, and i'm fumbling around with the tutorials, and it all seems so complicated to me, but i'm learning slowly.

what should i learn first, VST, MIDI, or instruments? i know they all work together

.... god i wish i could have one of you guys either over my shoulder or in my brain as i'm looking through this stuff. is there a "right" way to teach yourself this stuff?

he who does not continue to learn, has learned nothing ...

... ok ... color me stupid. just looked at the quickstart guide, but didn't see much about VST's .... are they the same thing?

[/stupid_question]

no.
the problem is about patience. the VSTs will also make sound, but its more complicated. learn about samples first, its the easiest quick start. you will learn about VSTs when you are producing more music .
