The link is not working. I'm more than interested to listen, but this is not going to work Smile Please edit the link to the working version, and I'll remove my own post for a new start of this thread Smile

Review-while-listening-method:

It makes me think a bit about oldschool breakbeat, back in the days of 1992 when breakbeats were still slow and chord progression was irrelevant. I have some difficulties with the samples you put together; it sounds like all the instruments don't want to blend into eachother. Especially some hihats and other percussions fall out of the sound, being too furious and too distinct hearable. I really like the vibrating pad that carries the song, and along with the movie quotes it gives me the impression that you have been inspired a bit by Boards Of Canada. The piano is too cheesy for them (and also for me); you might consider using a less conventional melody instrument that can generate the same effect.

General conclusion: the song has sounds and melodies that I like, but it looks like the final composition is lacking coherence and uniformity. Instead of one distinct theme, multiple variations are used that seem unmixable like oil and water. Consider working from one main theme, and expand from there. Furthermore, listen very carefully to your various instruments and be very critical about if they fit or not. One's ear can adapt to a song very fast (especially when producing), so take a breath, lay down the song for a week, listen it again with a very critical attitude, and work on everything that appears to fall out of place.

Is this harsh? A bit, yes. But posting means accepting feedback, which can go two ways. I hope you understand, and are able to work with the material provided above.

Listening to the mp3 version, I have to agree with Inge on most parts. I'm not so sure about the theme issue though, think there is a pretty clear theme throughout the song. But the piano I'd either change to one with more power in it, or change to some other instrument completely. The crash/cymbal seems a bit harsh compared to the rest of the tune. I'd maybe instead put a soft crash, something that fades in slowly and fades out slowly. The hihats/percussions etc. aren't bad IMO, but on the other hand, I just came home after a 14h work day so my judgement might not be the best Wink

It looks like the file is corrupted. I'm 99% sure that you uploaded as ASCII file while it should have been in binary mode.

Zipping or RARring it would have worked without problem. Wink
