[INS] Key problem... or rather, lack of [INS] key problem ..

OK, I have an ADVENT PC which comes with its own keyboard (which is smaller than a normal keyboard, as it is missing the bit above the four directional keys - which includes the [INS] key)... and the problem I have is that I can't press [INS] and insert a line on a track... the only [INS] key I have is on the numeric keypad (it shares the 0) and even with numlock off this [INS] key doesn't insert a line.... I can delete, no problem - but it means that if I accidently put a note in the wrong place I have to delete the entire track and redo it from scratch (which is very annoying, as I am sure you can imagine).

Is there some way of making the [INS] key on the numeric keypad perform the insert function? Or maybe the ability to assign the insert function to a different key?

TIA,

The only possibility to assing another function to a key, would be on a programmable keyboard with variable keys (such as most modern keyboards have). To my knowledge, 'normal' keys can't be programmed.

Remember that your insert-button might not be activated by the numlock, but by the capslock or scroll lock (I'm just guessing here...experiment with your keyboard Smile)

Another possibility would be to select the region that has to be moved, cut it with alt-f3 and paste it one line below. This results in exactly the same.

And for only 8 euro you can get yourself a cheap but decent low-budget ps2-keyboard. Take three beers less, and you're already one frustration further Very Happy

Because the theory of universal knowledge sometimes works rather slow with respect to the spreading of information over continents? Very Happy

Enjoy using madtracker again Smile
