a XM crashes MT...

Have u heard about Skale tracker?
Question Well, Skale is a free Spanish tracker, based on FT but it has a lot of improvements, like VST plugin support and a graphic effect editor.
You may also have heard Awesome (no The Awsome) music.
Awesome designed Skale interface and some demo modules in Skale format (.skm).
I downloaded those modules, loaded into Skale and save in XM format. Then I started Madtracker and atemped to load those XM but MadTraker crashed.
I rebooted and the same happened. FT 2.08, Xmplay and winamp played them successfully.
You can find skale and those modules at www.skale.org
What is going wrong, MT or FT and XMPlay and Winamp? Crying or Very sad

Is this spam or a bug report?

I think it's a bugreport, but why there's a historylesson of Skale in the mix I don't know... Confused

Ozzone: you're running the latest MT version?

Sorry, my first topic looks like spam but, trust me, that bug still remain Sad
I downloaded MT 2.2.0 again and reinstalled but MT keep crashing. I could load 1 XM but only 1 (of 21) instruments plays, all the rest can't be heard or edited.

My honest opinion about Skale: It has a really nice interface, a good idea, but it needs a high speed CPU. My old AMD 550Mhz and 256Mb can't make it run smooth enough to write a song even to play without clips.

I prefer madtracker, it's faster and it can work with big stereo samples, FXs are useful unlike free VST effects. And the sample editor is simple but powerful. MT hardly ever crashes, Skale assiduously freezes my PC or simply crash.

As soon as I have some money I'll register madtracker but it's difficult to get 40€ in my country. 40€ are 140 'pesos'. I earn 100/month and there are a lot of things to pay.

Modplug tracker has problems with XMed Skale songs. But Modplug seems to be dead as IT or FT.

This problem can either be in MT or in Skale. Maybe I outlooked something in the XM format specifications, or maybe Skale is writing XM's in a non backward-compatible fashion.

If you have a relatively small Skale-generated XM file you can't open in MT2, you can mail it to me and I'll have a look.

I mailed the module. The one which crashes is too big, but I think this will help to find the problem.

That's the reason I think the problem is in MT instead of Skale. At least, I don't think FastTracker will play a wrong XM module.

Ive seen this before, but with a Mod file.
It plays ok in Modplug player and such but mt2 crach when I try to open it.

My guess was that the song was made with one of those odd trackers.

I used to track in Ft2 only before so I have tons of Ft2 tracks, all of them loads just fine in Mt2.

Tho every once in a while when I right click on a XM mod and choose "Open with ... Mt2" It craches upon load. and Some times if I have opend alot of songs in Mt2 same error can occur. Not very often tho. (I like to listen thro my old work some times in Mt2 to fix loop points and such as you hear errors in loops more in Mt2 then other tracker software, dunno why it is more apparent in mt2. It is a good thing mind you)

So there might be a small bug somewere.

EDIT:
Oh yeah I forgot to mention this
Ozzone>> Do try to open your problem XM files with Ft2 and resave them. That might work. My guess is that scale is the source of error as XM isnt its native format.

I opened the XM in FT2 and then re-saved.
Now MT can play all Sk@led modules.
Sorry Yannik, your software is great!

Well, I just wanted to have a complete Awesome collection,
but a collection I could play in a powerful tracker.
