QBical - The lake (Sunbuster after eight remix)

So, time to do my first piece of promotion on here Cool

The subject at hand: My remix of QBicals brilliant lounge tune "The lake" (which you can find in the music section here or on his homepage Wink )

Started this remix a long time ago (sometime last autumn, after QBical asked me if I was interested in doing a remix), and now finally got around to mastering it. Let me know what you think Smile (btw. It's got a 4/4 beat, so if you're totally utterly against this type of music, don't download. I don't want to be sued for causing a heart attack Razz )

http://www.gnejsi.net/music/QBical_TheLake_saer.mp3 (160 kbps, about 9 MB)
http://www.gnejsi.net/music/QBical_TheLake_saer_lo-fi.mp3 (lo-fi versions for the ones with modems Wink 64 kbps, about 3.6 MB. it sounds crap of course, but you'll get the idea Smile )

ps. the tune is also available on my homepage. There's an .ogg version of it there also Wink

COOL!!!
I love it!
I couldn't tell that it was 4/4 (You mean 4 lines per beat, right? It sounds like 8 lines per beat) Very Happy

Glad you liked it Smile

4/4 beat is just an expression I've heard for music with a dance beat, don't know exactly where it comes from Confused

I've seen 4/4 on sheet music. You know, the ones with the Treble and Bass Clefs and all those rests and 8th notes, etc, ect.

Nice overall mix and tracking skills, although the track is slightly non-descript, as in I didn't really get the theme and it seemed difficult to remember once I finished playing the track, could just be me where I need something holding the track a little more. Very ambient house. I would say it needs a vocal to make it stand out but who am I to say. Very Happy

Nice work though.

Wink

Cheers for the link Smile

em22: I see where you're coming from. That seems to be the case with most of my music, it's difficult to remember the tune Very Happy In this case though, since the original created a very distinct feeling in my head (read my review of the track in the music section Wink ), I wanted to focus on the feeling, and not that much on getting a distinct hook line into the mix.

But thanks for the comments all of you Smile

(btw. I would be very greatfull if you guys took a couple of secs of your time and hopped over to my site and gave it a rating there too, since you've listened to it and all Smile and maybe rate some of the other tunes on there also Wink )

Inge: yeah, a subsection. First time I saw it, I was like "Yess! many more emoticons, a cult shall be formed!" then it loaded, and I was like "huh!? that's it?? only two more than the regular set?". That's when I decided this is the place where bad behaving emoticons get sent Very Happy Seems only mrgreen and undecided behave badly in this forum...

to get back on topic, I know there are more than 8 people browsing this forum, so why are there only 8 votes? comments on the tune people, please! Makes me much more willing to comment on your tunes later on also Wink

The Lake - Sunbuster remix

Really great jobb! I would believe that it is a tough tune to remix cause I think that QB did a great jobb in making a very distinct atmosphere on the original. What I like about your remix is that you bring a more ambient floating feeling to it, and also that fact that one can hear that you make it your own. I think that you do a great job on letting the different themes intertwine, and keeping it interesting and pleasing to listen to, not only the first time.

I`ve had "Instinct" on my desktop (for easy access) for some time now Very Happy - and I was glad to hear that you`ve incorporated more acoustic sounds in this tune. I`m thinking of the piano and congas? - they really bring it more to life in my opinon - and I kinda wised you had added that to "Instinct" aswell Wink

I wish I could make a track half as good as this!

- Martin
