More definition to the vocoded voices would be nice, it's impossible to hear what the song is about unless you read the vocals. But that's a luxury problem [Dagens I-lands-problem Wink]. Also, I find the title misleading (who doesn't?). It could be either "Be proud" (obviously) or "Little girl" (maybe a little obscure).

This is by far the entry with the most sentimentality to it and well worthy of the 3rd spot. If produced better, this track could have won, I'm certain of it.

There is only vocoder that is really good for voices (so that you can still hear/understand them) is the Roland SVC 350. But since the 350 is a vintage vocoder you won't see them often on ebay or something like that.

So I can understand what you say SoulEye, but the only wise thing to do is to layer the rendered (vocoded) sample with the orignal sample or to buy a decent vocoder.

Most vocoding plugs suck imho.

Anyway, I heard that he was saying "Be Proud" hehe and I like the track very much.

I'm thinking it hints at feeling blue, as in feeling depressed or sad. The song tells the girl who is feeling blue that she should be proud instead. In that way I think the title works. I like that the title isn't telling you right away what it's about. It leaves the song open to some interpretation.

I agree with souleye that the song has some unused potential. It would be fun to hear what another producer could do with the tracks. I get the feeling that an objective producer would accentuate the different components a little differently, like perhaps bringing the vocals a bit more upfront.

Nice to see you actually discuss my song, and leaves some feedback!

It's good to read both pessimistic critics (which can make one being a better producer/composer), and optimistic critics, as it makes me happy and wants to do more music Smile..

I posted my tune on one of the biggest Swedish musician forums (Studio Forum) which is owned by the biggest swedish studio/music magazine (called Studio); and I've barely got any feedback at all. Seems like ppl are either too much into some other genres (like boring rock/pop or trance), or maybe they're just jealos because I've actually made a quite good song and production in something that they think is a toy software. (Ppl tend to think about Fasttracker and Protracker when speaking about trackers..)

I think this song is really strong!

It is something that could easily be played on the radio. Maybe the "arpeggio-chip" chords are a bit too much, but the nice vocals makes up for it.

I also find the tamburine a bit to loud throughout the song, especially in the "break" at 3:57 where I find it shining out of the mix, but I guess that is a matter of personal taste.

Overall, a really nice song that fast set itself on your mind with its message: Be proud of yourself! Smile

/M
