Okay, this time a serious compo. It's time to take matters into hands, and do a percussive competition.

Presenting: The Percussion Compo

Quick Rules:
* No musical samples/instruments allowed (piano/bass/synths)
* No musical percussion instruments allowed (marimba/vibes/glockenspiel)
* Rhythm creativity counts!
* and so on...

Check out the site for more details: http://www.cdnalsi.net/percussion
If you have any questions, please fire away!

Good luck!

sounds like fun!
Now when I'm back home again (came back yesterday so hey!, even tho I've been around quite much...) I can finally make some music, and this sounds like something that would get me started.

percussions and drum samples, as long as it's not a melodic sample I guess it's ok. it is a percussion compo after all Smile looks like the compo is focusing on rhythm.

I already started a little somethin and let me tell you it's kinda hard to just ignore the melodic part of the song. but still, it's kinda fun.

Can you use melodic samples as long as they aren't used melodicly? Like a guitarsample that only plays 4-C?

Hey, thanks for your interest in the compo.

To answer your questions, no musical instruments are allowed what-so-ever. That means no guitar, no piano, no bass, no synths. Not even melodic percussion instruments like marimba, vibes or glockenspiel. Well.. it's all explained on the site.

Cheers!

So this would be concidered illegal as the sample is a synth?

Just want to be sure of the rules.

How about speaking/shouting samples? If the serve as rythmic addition. Like someone shouting "SAMBA!" or something.
