Yep. I've moved on to Reason.

I hate to see the end of MT, though.
And I for one can't do s**t to support. Except being a registree, of course.

Renoise is still expanding, in terms of users and software versions, so there still is a market for trackers, I guess.

I'm hoping for the best.

Hang in there Yannick, if you're still in developing.

EDIT: And yeah, I forgot: @String Section: Thanks for the link in your signature!

You guys should move over to Renoise, best tracker out there at the moment, currently with a new 2.6 version in beta featuring scripting so anyone can contribute.

Demo of 2.5 can be found here:

im still using madtracker. but the muse isnt there for me. i dont like any of the stuff im making.

is that happening to anyone else?

i guess thats what could be causing madtracker to die off. people becoming unhappy with their music creations.

coz i reckon madtracker has ultimate sound and capabilities

especially with vsts.

i dunno if we've even tapped into half the stuff u can create with it

please dont die madtracker

Not me. I just came back to using Madtracker after a long period of using FL Studio, and I'm more inspired than ever before.

Binärpilot? Renoise? This does not compute.

This is why I work mostly in MT again about a year of FL Studio. Going back to your old sequencer after a year makes it feel new again, yet you already know how to use it. I'm more creative than ever now. =D

I've just reached a point where my workflow in MT is not worth the limitations and quirks the software has, especially compared to Renoise. It's going to take me a good while to get as comfortable in RNS but seeing how MT isn't developed anymore it seems the right thing to do.

That's not to say I'll never open MT again, it's still a great tracker.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I might switch to renoise if MT doesn't get updated for a while after I register. Which I will. Eventually.

EDIT: Protrekkr http://code.google.com/p/protrekkr/ is the closest I'll ever get to renoise.

Like Binärpilot i switched to Renoise about 1.5 years ago.

It's really a pity to see that Madtracker dies, because its an awesome tracker and was the right tool for me to get back into the music making. But now, when the expectations raise and you need an up-to-date tracker Renoise is the weapon of choice in any aspect.

I guess Yannick knows that and he is keeping the site living to grab some cash every now and then. There are no plans to develope MT further or summat. Thats the truth i fear... Sad

Yeah, this is true. I still plan to register MT. Also, after some digging, I found when the community started dying:http://www.madtracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2697&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

This is actually pretty accurate, yeah. :[

Add me to the list of potential Renoise users. I still find it somewhat counter-intuitive, but only because I haven't really sat down and dedicated time to learning it. It's a powerful piece of software, if the example mods are any indication.

I've given myself a goal to meet before completely moving on from MadTracker, and that's to produce one complete EP release - If only because I haven't made an intended release for the nine years that I've been using MadTracker. I've got a lot of loose ends left on current projects to tie up before I can really close up here, anyway.

It's weird being part of a community for defunct software.

Trust me, when you are more into Renose the workflow is extremly fast and very intuitive. The included Pattern Matrix since version 2.5 is a powerfull tool to arrange tracks within minutes... Smile

Madtracker runs like a charm on my IBM Thinkpad T20 that I got for $30. Can't say the same for Renoise.

... it's not my madtracker ...

i recently tried out modplug tracker and openMPT ... meh ... decent programs ...

... but there's just so much about madtracker that i prefer. biggest thing is the main mixer, and the ability to EQ each channel. it's so simple and straight forward ... in openMPT you need to load effects and vst's and a bunch of other stuff to do the same thing.

honestly, if yannick doesn't do anything else with it, or if there never is MT3, i'll still direct people to MT2. by far, the easiest tracker to learn, use, and play with.

and the only reasons i was even looking at modplug and mpt, was a temporary fix to export into .wav, and to see another tracker program.

.... it's not my madtracker

he who does not continue to learn, has learned nothing ...
