Automation for chained patterns

This is the idea I have in mind.

At the moment it is possible to automate a pattern. But what if you want to automate the Settings for a whole pattern sequence? like 00 01 02 03. One way I`ve chosen is to use a pattern length of 256 or higher, but that makes the song hard to edit. The idea is to get a view of the whole pattern sequence IN the automation say.

The curve of Pattern 00 chained to 01 02 03 04. So you have in the end ONE big curve (stretching over 4 patterns) you may alter. And the change applies to all affected patterns. I dont know if someone had this idea yet already. But if you dont understand what I mean I can make a sketch of it or a photo montage.

I agree - automation could be done more user friendly in future updates. Smile

I think it would be nice if we could have multiple automation windows open, I would probably use it so much more, but I can’t see enough symbiant movement to make good judgments within a single window of it. it would also be nice to have a , drop all data to automation, so that all volume levels and track effects (in their current setting) are dropped to the automation, cause its hard guessing were the slider thing should be, and were it ends up.

It would also be nice to have a window for the automation to run down the whole song, just one track though/ maybe multiple would be cool to, or an option, or fallows the amount showing on the mixer, or made of a bunch of small windows with the patterns that don’t have automation blank until clicked on then up pops the full automation window (that would be great for the main window even, right above the tracks that would be pretty cool), or something. I think this would be great, great add-on's.

agreed with everyone on this topic. and the 'drop all data to automation' thing that NON talks about is most interesting. this way you screw around with the settings on the effects that you're using, and those settings are already put into automation (say, right at the start of the pattern or something).

Cool

I think it would be better if it were at the 'current' cursor location, that way, if Yannic wanted, the ability to make mt2's partial automation to a realtime adjustable one is available. say if you addjust anything during the song and the 'drop all data' is on then what ever changes you made would drop to the line within a beat. granted you might have to listen to the pattern again to hear whats really going on? And of course this means larger mt2 file sizes.

There is a feature I loved in BUZZ. I think it would be great if you could record the tweaking of knobs of a VSTi to automation, e.g. cutoff or panning. If you look into the automation window then you will see the resulting curve. I`d love such a feature Wink

I just got an idea, its pretty simple. left click an instrument, and click find sample and madtracker highlights the first pattern and first note placed of it, from 0 or rather drum track1 on up. and a find next option too Smile.

I still would love an automation option for the points of an volume/filter envelope in instruments Smile. Would be able to create strange sounds especially on rhythm Smile
