Our lucky registered users can now download the private release of MadTracker RC4!
It will be publically released once its stability is satisfying.
Here are the changes:- More stable VST support
- Track EQ (EQ engine donated by mindplay)
- New pattern manager
- Fullscreen pattern editor
- MIDI export
- Image embedding (for covers and logo replacement)
- "No interpolation" option for samples (for chiptunes fans!)
- Option to duplicate VST plugins
- Option to let a plugin interface use the keyboard
- mpReverb 2 (contributed by mindplay)
- New engine with HyperThreading and multi-processor support
The new engine is still experimental. It shouldn't crash MadTracker but it won't play some modules accurately and the sound may crackle when the HyperThreading support is enabled.

Hmmmmm....Very nice I have to say I had problems of clipping sounds, but with this version the clipping sounds are gone. It saves work quickly like it used to in MT 2.0 or something. It closes of quickly. It doesn't crash a lot. I still get those violation acces bug (I assume it is a bug) at times. (Like when I wanted to go to the configuration sreen it crashed) The playback is great to. There is one thing though that still annoys me. When I load a sample and want to use it, it won't give any sound. Even better, it won't playback. When I push a button on my keyboard after loading the sample it jumps to a different instrument. After that the sample works like it should. Minor bug. Could you fix that one? The new MpReverb sounds nice. Ow, the VST plugins! There is one thing about it. The interfaces of VST's are often different, but when you look at Adobe Audition they are all the same when you import them. Could such a thing be done in MT also? No serious complaints till now
Thank you! |
Sure......I am the MCP....Or just MC...Uhmmm...I make battle music...There....That is more then enough... |

Hi Yannick! Very nice work so far. Finally you found a way how to organize patterns The parametric EQ is very nice. Would be nice if you could automate it too . The idea with the VST-Plugins database inside the program is very good. If I got it right it synchronises the plugin database inside Madtracker with that one on the server? Thats great at least the list of pending plugins expanded .
Synced vst effects like gater or MfxTriggergate are still a bit out of sync. But they are no longer hanging.
So far very nice work Yannick
Keep up the great work!

First of all - great work with this RC. Really like Mindplay`s EQ and Reverb, and the VST panning.
But I`m having difficulties (read error on this file) when loading any modules with VST, even when saved from RC4 - any help is appreciated

Everything worked last night, but since I removed all old installations (rc3 and beta rc4), I have the same error with VST files. So here's the solution to that
Go to 'edit' -> 'configuration', and define the path to your VST directory. MadTracker will make a new cache file for all your VST plugins. All songs containing VST plugins will work after that.
A must-have probably for the next RC will a screen that demands a directory for the VST plugins after starting MadTracker for the first time, in order to solve this problem for people who do a clean install for every new release of software (like I do).

Ah there is pattern naming now too, very nice. What is the whitespace between the pattern list and the oscillators for? Another bunch of functions ?
Big thanks to Mindplay for the eq and new reverb!

This whitespace should only appear if the option 'old pattern manager' is ticked (in 'edit' -> 'configuration' -> tab 'general'). It is needed for the new pattern manager, since that takes more horizontal space.

There is a problem with cubic interpolation in rc4 . Madtracker stops when trying to play a module using cubic interpolation at 44.1 khz or 48 Khz. |

When I take the mids to extreme high or low settings, the sound goes all distorted and wild! The computer slows down, and everything gets choppy. It's awesome, but totally came out of nowhere and made me soil myself.
Overall, everything else so far works GREAT and I love this waaaay too much. |

I love the eq, this puts madtracker in serious competition with the big guns now. I've already overhauled a few songs and got them so clean now its like I worked 2 weeks scrubing them with a tooth brush that only took 5 min. Yannick your a genious, keep up the good work. |

I would like to know what the programme setting under Instruments (hit F9) -> Synthesizer does? I'm guessing it has something to do with being able to select a certain program for a VSTi to play, thus being able to run different instruments with the same VSTi, but I haven't gotten it to work. Seems the documentation is a bit out of date on this part |

Love the new release!
A few things that have bugged me though...
> The EQ distortion Emoposer mentioned, holy crap it knows how to scare.
> Track routing, getting some nice effect sound, but the main sound on certain routed tracks - excluding any sound on the host effect track - is muted. Discovered when listening to the MTChainsong, and confirmed with Reflected.
Example
I've muted all instruments except for the rhodes and a hi-hat.
> Wave export, only sound exported is a squared off sine wave, and it's incredibly quiet.
Other than that, it's all very w00tish! Can't wait for that new help file to explain the new stuff. |
