How to make my beats

Here you'll find how to create the standard 4/4 beats.

Loading up a drum sample

Step 1:

Create a new instrument.

Step 2:

Doubleclick on the instrument and click on the open icon on the General tab of the instrument window.

Step 3:

Select a fitting sample for a bassdrum such as the bundled one which can be found at \MadTracker\Samples\Drums\kick01.wav

Get into edit mode

Get into edit mode either by pressing space key or clicking on the red circle on the top-left part of the toolbar. It should look like this when in edit mode:

Writing down some notes

Put a note in every fourth line by e.g. pressing key 'q' on your keyboard and going down by using the arrow keys.

Speed it up a bit

Since we want to do a 4/4 vibe all the beats will be placed in n*fourth lines so we set the Add property on the upper-right part of the toolbar to four by either writing in 4 manually in the edit box or using key ` and ~ (the one under escape key) to increment and decrement our edit steps. If you are on the good way it should look like this:

Now if you place a note again the cursor will jump 4 lines instead of one.

Finishing it

Then make some more instruments and load into them samples from the bundled pack with the name you`ll see in the next pic:
