In MadTracker, an instrument is a container for samples or VST instruments. One MadTracker instrument can link to up to 64 samples or one VST instrument. The samples can be linked to individual keyboard keys, which allows the creation of very realistic sounding instruments. MadTracker can load up to 255 instruments at a time. Each instrument has the option to add volume, panning and cutoff envelopes. Furthermore, each instrument contains synthesizer controls which can be used to alter the sound of an instrument even further.
