In order to play notes in Madtracker, and control some basic functions via a midi keyboard, attach a midi keyboard (usually via USB) to your computer, and set the Input device in the Midi tab in the Config window to your specific device.

  • Device Input

Select the input MIDI device here.

  • Record velocity

When this option is checked, MadTracker will record the key velocity in the volume column.

  • Record key releases

Enabling this option will result in the insertion of a "note off" event in the pattern whenever you release a key.

  • Function keys

You can access some function from your MIDI keyboard. To modify a function key, select the function you want to alter, and press the key of your midi keyboard you want to assign to this function.

Note: If you do not wish to have function keys active, use your delete button to delete the keys specified in the Midi tab in the Config window.

Functions you can assign are:

  • Edit
  • Play
  • Play Pattern
  • Play Loop
  • Stop
  • Add -1
  • Add +1
  • Pause / Restart
