for all who cant sing:

two words,

Anteres Auto-Tune

well... that might be 3 words depending if you count the hyponated word as 1 or 2 words. so it would be either 2 or 3 words... just depending on the rules you live by.

rules are a fucked up thing eh? they are something that define everything that you can be or can do..

what? oh... hehe.. yah.. Anteres Auto-Tune Confused Rolling Eyes

Indeed, the name of that cute little tool so many popsingers nowadays rely on (for recording - their "live performances" are of course most of the time in playback !) is called Antares autotune and is of course allowed in the compo.

For the cultural part of the story, it gets it's name from Alpha scorpii - a bright red star from the southern hemisphere (altough it can be seen quite far into the north, I guess the limit must be somewhere around Stockholm). That's why the logo of the company producing that tool is a red star. It gets it name from the times of the Antqiue Greek empire where astronomers thought that this star, being red as the planet Mars, was it's father. And as Mars was called 'Ares' in the Greek empire and that the word "ANTeriority" has Greek origins, you should be able to guess where that funny name comes from.
(BTW, The Arabs call that star Kalb-Al-Akrab - "The heart of the Scorpion" ... but I don't know if Kalb-Al-Akrab autotune would have sounded that cool...)

Why am I scary ? Because I know Antares quite well ?
You know, I'm mister computers in the local astronomy club so I *should* know more about the stars than the average people.

BTW, I even shot this star with my digital camera in April 2004...and Here it is :

don't know, maybe it's because you talk about Antares like it's your hood... then there's the stars in the background of your avatar... then there's the sunglasses... the whole combo just makes me think you were friends with E.T. at some point before he took a trip to earth Wink j/k

Pop Idol is a reality-TV show where young aspiring singers go to a singing casting. Of course, only 0.1% of the ones who get there make it to the 2nd part of the show where the 10 last contestants (out of 30000 in France...) sing songs live (covers only) in a prime time show. Each week, one gets kicked out and the last one staying wins a record deal with BMG.

Mad Idol is a bit the same, but without cameras, live performances, TV propaganda, commercial breaks and record deals. Another big difference is whereas Pop Idol is all about cover songs, Mad Idol only accepts original songs.

It's called "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" here in Germany and they have to sing to Wannabe-Composer Dieter Bohlen (known from Modern Talking) on the piano at first and later on to a melody on stage, which sounds like a cheap General MIDI wavetable worse than the singers. He's also one of the judges, even there seems not much sense for judges since the audience is supposed to vote via expensive telephone numbers. It's one of those shows on RTL Television (unencrypted) you really don't have to see. There are probably more different names in other countries for it.

DSDS as german people call it is *much* cheaper than some other versions. But for mad idol, you don't have to suck to win Smile
