first of all, i'll split reviewing into two main parts: the first will cover the musical aspects of the song and the second one is meant to be a place for whinning about possible technical issues ;)

musical stuff:

the song has a nice atmosphere, neatly carried all along the song. the instrumentation tastefuly backs the mood just like the nice, at times jazzy melodies. though sometimes the song seems to be a bit monotone, it`s really fitting here and the song still has a warm touch.

on the contrary, sometimes the percussions sound too artifical. humanizing in volume (sometimes giving volume 30 or so in track00 or changing the volume with automation like the way you did so in track10) and in rhythm (a bit of EDx (ft2) command) would surely spice things here imo.

the composition is nice, the song is interesting all along so there are no serious issues here.

technical stuff:

i`m not sure whether it was on purpose or not, but you haven`t used any NNA on instrument 07 (strings) so when you changed the note the sound cut a bit sudden but it sounded nice so i mention this only as an interesting thing.

another odd thing was that you haven`t enabled the filter for instrument 0b (OldFeelSaxo.wav) so where you automated the instrument cutoff, reso, attack and delay (in track10) it had no effect. but the automations were so nicely done that maybe something is wrong with my file only.

the sound quality is ok and the track fx are tastefuly done, maybe some instruments could have done with a very small reverb since at times the song had a dry sound, but this can depend on tastes.

overall:

the song was really nice, it`s kept a bit low profile, there are no routings and stuff but it suits the mood well. using filters could be some addition to the song but apart from this everything is ok. keep it up!

Seems that our new fellow JimBo is learning fast ! Even if his song is perfectible, the quality progression he made within a few days is really impressive.

The melody line maybe lacks a bit of catchiness (this can be an obvious choice and not necessarly a flaw), but it's overall production has improved a lot since the last mod of him I reviewed.

The drums are already much better sounding, and even if they still lack a bit of power, JimBo's drumline tracking has improved a lot.

Of course, JimBo's use of the madtracker's possibilities (track re-routing for exemple) isn't yet there, but as he says, it's his first song he directly wrote in madtracker and when I see how far he improves, well...it's scary for many of us !

Keep up improving yourself as you do, try getting some more diverse samples (hint : use softsynths...), try to acheive a "fuller" production (unless you want to stay quite minimal). You're on the good way. Definitely !

Hi everyone! This is my fist review here on the Madtracker review site.
As another reviewer said, this is rather low profile. In a sense, it is not setting its goals very high, but it works well within the parametres it's setting for itself.
It does sound a bit synthetic but I am not so sure what the author could do about that, without spending a significant amount of time playing around with soft synths or maybe sampling live instruments. I am not sure how appropriate that is to do for a first module, I personally wouldn't bother, especially considering that JiMbo has selected the sample set quite carefully - all the sounds mix very well. Volumewise everything's good too, perhaps a very small amount of humanisation could be added, but too much could ruin the compressed, tight feel everything has, which is effective in itself.
For a first Madtracker song, is has to get an A++. Feels sort of ‘complete’ to me. I wouldn’t have changed a note myself, if I were talented enough to write something like this. Really impressive.
