Another newbie question: can instruments have more than a single sample? If so, how is that setup? How does MT use a single sample for different notes? Is it better to have several samples per instrument?
I've played with modplug a little & its instruments seemed to have several samples each. There is a huge bunch of built ins which made things easy to get started with. I'm not sure MT works the same way.

- Yes
If so, how is that setup?
- Check the manual, theres a paragraph about it
How does MT use a single sample for different notes?
- As far as I know this is pretty simple - and basicly a sample run at double speed is one octave higher. ANd run at half speed one octave lower and so on. The problem with only one sample is that the same samples covers all ranges and will sound "stretched in the uppermost/lowermost octaves
Is it better to have several samples per instrument?
- In most cases this leads to better quality of the instrument, depending ofcourse on the quality of the samples. But because each sample has a more narrow range to cover it will usually sound better

- If you download some of the songs in the musicsection several of them wil contain multisampeled instruments.
if you search the forum I`m pretty sure you will find several post about mulisampled instruments.
