Souleye, I have the same problem, but goldwave can fix that Very Happy .
goldwave has got a noise reduction function that allows you to sample the background noise and cancel it out entirely. There is a small digitalization of the sound but I just add a chorus or some light effect and it's like the static was never there. but that is with a distortion pedal, so it might be a bit different with a clean line.

Why not just get a preamp? They are pretty cheap these days. Don't amplify from your soundcard, the mic preamp that comes with the standard issue soundcard is junk.
