 |
I have looked around but haven't been able to find out how to make an instrument multi-timbral. This Soundfount player that I have, lists that it is multi-timbral, but I do not know how to make the player play different instruments. If someone could please explain, or point me in the direction of a tutorial, I would appreciate it. Thank you... |

load up the different sounds into different slots in your sampler, then change the channel number in the instrument window's synthesizer tab: (red ellipses)

Ok, I loaded different sounds into the different slots, but changing the channel doesn't affect anything. For example, I have Strings in slot 1 and Drums on slot 2. If I change the channel, all it does is play whatever slot I last visited. I know it's probably something simple that Im missing... |

SFZ Soundfont Player. I know you said you weren't familiar with that one, but if you know of another free one (that you're familiar with), I'd try it if I can get the multi-timbral thing down... |

Recommendation originally from Ravana: Try Fontanimator.
Recommendation from...... somebody, I forgot whom: Try the freeware version of Paax2.
Gimme an address and I can send you them. They're both .dll files. Probably be wiser to find them yourself though, you don't even know who I am. |

Haha Psalm... I'd trust you to send legit .dll files. I downloaded the Paax2 Player but have not yet had the time to explore how to make it multi-timbral. It already seems like it may be better than SFZ because when loading a certain bank, I didn't get the message "the selected soundfont is too big to load as a 24 bit" Anyway, let me try to make that one multi-timbral and I'll let you guys know how that goes... |

You could just run different instances of SFZ. Right click on the .dll, hit copy, then rename it SFZ1. Then hit paste and name the new one SFZ2. Wash, rinse, repeat until you have SFZ996089465 if that's how many it takes.
I know, I know, cumbersome, awkward and not true multi-timbral. It'll do the job though, unless you want to pay for a really good soundfont player. I'd rather use freeware and work around it, I'm usually broke as a joke. |
