Hi all Just on the off-chance that anyone may be able to help - I want to make some music that sounds a bit like the old days of ZX Spectrums etc, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good 8-bit sample bundles or good 8-bit synths? Preferably free, but I'd be happy to pay for something. If anyone could help I'd be real grateful. Thanks Rich

Couldn't you just use some sort of vst for downgrading your samples? Like E-phonic lofi or BJ lofi. With BJ lofi you can set the amount of bits. Powerdown

8-bit and good do not go together!! Seriously though, you can just open up any sample in a wav editor and change the sample rate to 8-bit.

Though, I think he meant that he want the, common, sound of 8 bit machines, not the sound of 8 bit samples.. There's (or often is) a big difference there.. Have you tried the QuadraSID? Other option is to basicly use looped waveforms and make yourself a chip tune in Madtracker. Checkout the arpeggio function (0xx, where xx is the two numbers of half tones that is relative to the basic tone) to get those chord blurrs often associated to chiptunes. Greets/Daniel
