Posted: Wed May 02 2007 19:43 How does one "channel" effects to reduce CPU usage |
 |
I have experimented and fiddled around a lot with instruments and VST lately to try and optimise sound output and quality. Ephonic Xpressor is a favourite, amongst others.
I add it to tracks and instruments individually, but notice the CPU rising sharply. If I wish to use it on say 3 VST's, is it possible to use it once and channel it to all 3??
Don't know how, if it's possible?
Anyone with any advice? Thanks |

You mean you want to route several tracks to one vst fx track? In the mixer window, under each track, is a box where it now probably says 'master'. Right-click it, and select the track where you want to route it's output to. You can use this to apply one effect to many different tracks. |
what is hip?

That's one thing I never did find in the tutorial. In the popup tips it mentions to save CPU cycles route all tracks you want the effect on to one track.......... but it never did say how to route tracks.
Thanks again to oldbrian for explaining it to me, and thanks to Yannick for including a live chat in his program. |
