ive been using a bass sample for quite awhile now but i feel that this is not the best way to do it, for example if i set the pitch too high or too low it is sometimes inaudible (but these levels i should be able to hear!). can anybody point me in the correct direction? i produce hip-hop if that helps

Use better samples, or a VSTi. Also depends how low your speakers can go, as to what you can hear.

Been using A bass sample, as in ONE? Diversify man! Use SuperWave, that's what Yannick included it with MadTracker for. Use a ton of samples you can find free on the net. Use a ton of virtual instruments you can find free on the net.

In other words, do your homework, expand your instrument list and have some fun! Very Happy

You can also use two or more bass samples or sounds as layers or mix them together to get more options and more vivid bass lines.
