Posted: Wed Nov 29 2006 20:55 How to delay a sample |
 |
Hi
I make drums mostly and for that I used Jeskola Buzz until I found Mad Tracker. There is one but tho. Is there any way to delay a sample - not delay/reverbish effect - but to start sample with a slight delay in ms? I need that for triol's and just to make my drums sound natural, and not just like a machinegun :]

I don't know if there is a delay in milliseconds, but there is a delay in ticks. The FT2 command EDx does that, where x is the number of ticks the note is delayed. You can max have 32 ticks per line, so millisends per tick... Well that you calculate for yourself.
Edit: Note that the tick value must be smaller than that of your song. For example, your song uses 6 ticks per line, you can max put ED5. That's how it was in FT2 anyways... Since the first tick is the start of the line. |

-------------------------------
90 XXYY Set sync. offset
If the sample is synchronized:
X Got to beat X
Y Offset in the beat (in Y/256: 0 = begin of the beat; 80 = middle of the beat; FF = nearly the end of the beat)
Else:
X Divide sample in X parts
Y Go to division Y
-------------------------------
OR...
-------------------------------
9D XXYY Set offset+delay
X Offset (01 = 256 samples, 02 = 512 samples, etc.)
Y Delays the note of Y ticks
-------------------------------

Thx man . That is exactly what I needed. But - even if you set 32 ticks, you have acces to 16 only (F), because command goes like this: 00 0EDx. Is there any way to acces all 32 ticks?
PS. I dont quite get 90 and 9D commands goose mentioned - I think they divide sample into parts, and start from selected one. Couldn't figure them out.
Edit: Is there any way to add specified command automatically when you add a beat to your song? |

Sorry - I didn't post the explanation for some reason...
It helps to offset some hits a tiny bit to get a more natural sound, especially on rolls.
Plus you can add silence (one beats worth perhaps) to the begining of the sample and change the amount of silence with offset command - this means you move the hit around the beat. Plus you can easily include more of the attack of the drum sample this way.
Just ideas. |
