does madtracker supports tempo swing like in renoise? changing tick speed/bpm wont work for me since it makes impossible to use all the plugins that synch to hosts tempo... |

By changing the ticks with the F0X command, if I'm not mistaken, you can create a swing
Set tick to 6 per line (for example)
Then do this (on any channel)
01 ---- -- -- -F05
02 ---- -- -- ----
03 ---- -- -- -F07
04 ---- -- -- ----
05 ---- -- -- -F05
06 ---- -- -- ----
07 ---- -- -- -F07
Etc
This will make the tempo shift in a swingy manner, without changing the BPM. A nice trick!
Don't trust me 100% but this is the way to do it I think! |

the FXX changes the tempo and well used, can swing the beat..but also messes up all plugins that sync to the hosts tempo... wich are like 80% of the plugs i use....
thanks for trying to help though...i guess this means madtracker doesnt haves a swing option/feature |

I use the parameter and it works with 80% of my plugins, just don't use the madtracker buildin fx (like delay) coz they mess up big time .. other than that .. works like a charm
But you are right a "real" swing option like in fruity loops or renoise is not in madtracker .. |
Music ... is endless ... Work in progress ...

There's to options, either you use the one that's already suggested (the real tempo will be calculated in the bpm-box), or you use the EDx-command, which delays the notes you need to delay to get a swing. That's the most "true" swing but it will also cost some effect lines.

thank you all for trying to help...
the delay note effect is cool...ive used it in some trackers before to get a swing...but its a lot of work.. (you can call me lazy)... changing BPM is a lot cooler... but i havent yet found one single VST plugin that can stay synced with it... (maybe i havent searched enough, but all the ones i have and want to use dont work) ...ive tried tried this in different trackers with no luck...so this is not a madtracker issue... im not a madtracker user....im just looking for some tracker that can swing without affecting the "main" bpm... the apps i know to do this for now are only ableton live, fruity and renoise... if anyone knows any other i would like to hear about it...
thanks |

thanks | But the average BPM should be calculated and displayed in the BPM-box (if you don't put your mouse pointer over it), so you can in that way sync with other hosts.
I don't see the problem with getting sync with VSTi's though, since they should react when the note is played in the tracker interface; at the same time as a sample would be played that is.

I like the EDx better because it gives you more controll over the swing. You can for example give different instruments a different swing setting to realy create a groovy whole...
But the tempo change works well to, I haven't had any problems with VST plugins. The thing is, madtracker calculates the global tempo as told above and gives that information to the VST plugins, so your tempo synced stuff is all in time. Sometimes I noticed you need to restart playback if it doesn't, most of the time that's when you start in the middle of a pattern or track... |
