i'm into hip-hop production, but any kind of help with bass would be really appreciated. right now i'm just using bass samples with different notes instead of using a vst or something else to that effect. the only problem is i can't really hit those really low notes because then the sample is slowed down too much and it sounds horrible. any help is appreciated!! |

Go to Hammersound and get a decent soundfont. They have tons of good bass soundfonts.

im not sure why youre using samples or soundfonts for bass. using a vst would seem to be the obvious solution. you'll get a much better sound and be able to tailor it to your specific needs. grab synth1 which is a nice simple vst. spend a couple of hours working with it so you understand it and you'll be set for your basses, and leads and pads for that matter. if you struggle programming it ask here and ill be happy to explain functions if you need. grab it here:

and there are a few links for presets in this topic

ok cool, i already have synth1. i've actually tried using it before but i was completely clueless. do you program the entire bassline into synth1 or do you just program the sound in it? help is really appreciated!
also i wanna make sure that i can make this sound like a legit bass and not corny or anything, thanks! |

Walter Vos: check the propellerheads site: http://www.propellerhead.se . ReBirth is an awesome thing (the closest thing to a TB-303) but it was discontinued in '05. Reason replaced it. I'll tell you when VS-1 is done. SynthEdit is so rude sometimes... (<- Honestly. It's unfriendly but flexible. And I can't code.) |
