Right, some happy...something. Don't know where to put this one. :)
The theme, as I implied, is a happy one. I like it, it cheers you up.

What bothers me a bit is that various instruments are used to play the same thing, leads. I think it would be better to stick with one instrument playing the lead, then perhaps having another instrument take the lead in choruses only.

Sample quality is a bit low, and unfortunately it's audible to some extent. The drums especially could have benefitted from higher sample rates. The piano is highquality though, and that is perhaps what tells of on the other's being low in quality. The bass could have more, well bass. It sounds narrow as it is now, so more low end would be good, in the range of 60-120 Hz.

The piano is perhaps a bit too far out to the left. When it plays the song feels a bit as if it's leaning to the left. But otherwise the panning of the instruments in this track works well imo.

Overall, it's a nice tune with a good theme, but it fails a bit in the technical area.

With "Freelife," Synop brings us light, peppy, optimistic melodies in a pop/dance package... so light and peppy that they really come across as saccharine. While certainly original in sound, the song is further held back by a few technical problems, and the song also doesn't really hit its stride until about the final 30 seconds.

Right from the start, one of the backing guitar samples sounds slightly out of tune with the surrounding samples, a problem which keeps poking its head up throughout the song. Mercifully, it's kept to the background where it can't do as much damage, but it's still hearable. There are also mixing issues, with portions of the song sounding a bit muddled, and times when the lead melody is drowned out by other elements. The song clearly needs more tweaking with the volume levels and stereo panning to clean up the sound.

The biggest problem with "Freelife" though is the music itself. It's difficult writing songs in a major key like Synop has done here, because it is so easy to fall into the trap of making the song sound too happy. "Freelife" is hardly the worst example I've heard of this, but it falls into that trap nonetheless.

The only things really going for "Freelife" are its originality and those final 30 seconds, which hint at what could have been. But the overall package is merely average. It's not painful to hear, but it's just not all that interesting either.
