Some sort of electro I'd say. Can't put it into a specific genre, but I'll say Westbam has produced things close to this (at least from pattern 0A forward a while). Repetitive drums, synth pads and not much more.

The drums then, in some ways the relatively simple structure works, but in other ways I'd like a bit more happening there. The hihat and snare at least could use a bit more variation. The hihat sample btw., not sure it was such a good one to pick. It sounds very sharp, almost distortive when compared to the other samples.

I'm sad to say that even though the song isn't that long, about 4 minutes only, it get's a bit boring. I think the reason for this is in the piano(?) instrument (instr.0E). It plays through basically the whole song without break. This gets a bit nerving, and I'd suggest changing the leads in some point at least, to give the listener a break from this instrument.

Sample quality is good though. Appart from the closed hihat I don't think I'd change anything. The snare especially has a nice snap to it. The kick on the other hand perhaps a bit too much snap, I'd perhaps run it through a low-pass filter to get some of that highest highend out of it.

Overall, the track has it's good points, but also points that need more work. It didn't have anything that grabbed my attention as being very good, it didn't have anything that would be very bad either though. But in the end I sadly doubt this will stay on the playlists for very long.

Poor sound quality, not a very imaginative track.

"Repeat2fade" is certainly aptly named... there's a lot of repetition going on in this electronica-laced pop tune. The song has all the elements of someone who's past the newbie stage but is still trying to find their stride both in terms of writing music and in using tracking software: little musical structure and dodgy sample selection, but no painful mistakes.

The bright spot is the percussion. Although Martinkleppe hardly breaks any new ground, he does an adequate job of mixing up the drumming and coming up with moderately interesting rhythms that compliment the tone of the song.

The biggest weakness is the song's structure. The song follows a distinct pattern: introduce a new melodic theme, repeat it a few times, then dump it and do it all again with another new melodic theme. As a result, the song basically finds about 16 different ways to sound repetitive throughout its 4:25 playing time. There's no hook for the song to focus around, and none of the melodies are all that compelling; some are almost insultingly simplistic, in fact.

Sample selection is a problem as well. The lead synth sample really doesn't sound like it was meant to be used as a lead synth sample, and Martinkleppe further muddies the water by utilizing the same sample for some of the background notes as well. As a whole, the samples don't really fit well together, and individually they sound dirty and not-quite-professional.

The results are mediocre and slightly below average.
