Sounds like: english 2step/club

Good:
Distinct house character. Unconventional approach on composition and structure. Nice speech. Fluid listening. Very interesting beat programming.

Points of attention:
Hihats sound terribly sharp; some filtering might be listener-friendly. Sounds a bit cheesy; lacks the power to be a real houseclubbing anthem. A real sparkle of energy seems to be missing, which is essential for a song that should be energetic and uplifting.

Right, down house lane with this one. Somehow reminds me of early 90's dance. A cool piece overall. It get's a bit repetitive in the end however. Although the instruments that play the leads are changed, the characters of the instruments are pretty much the same, thus basically the same loop is playing through the whole tune.

Instruments are well panned, all seem to find their own place in the mix. Sample selection, well apart from perhaps a bit more variation in the characteristics of the leads, the samples work well with the tune. Quality is good also. The vocal samples work well with the tune also (used a bit often perhaps).

Conclusion: It's technically a good tune, but it fails to give that something extra that would make it stand out from the crowd and would make it a keeper.

Poor mixing (drums lack punch, hihats much too loud). Good quality sounds, but some sounds much too weak in contrast to others.

First of all, some advice. If you feel compelled to announce to the world that you've "got it goin' on" 49 times in 6 minutes, then no, you ain't got it goin' on.

Yes, I counted. 49 times. That's how many times Em22 uses this inane vocal clip in the course of his song. And it's not even that good of a clip. The sample itself is hardly high-quality, and the voice has a reedy edge to it and really doesn't sound all that good. And the words themselves are as generic and vanilla as you can possibly get. There is simply nothing interesting about the phrase "I've got it goin' on." Yet Em22 somehow feels compelled to use this clip 49 times in his song.

Ugh.

I'm harping so much on the repetition of the vocal clip because it's a great illustration of the most serious flaw in this cookie-cutter dance entry: its deadly sameness. The song stays locked into one short, simple chord progression all the way through, and tries to ride the same basic short melodic riff and same basic percussion structure for 6 minutes straight. Sure, there are minor and subtle changes going on in the background in a half-hearted attempt to keep the song from sounding repetitious, but they're simply too subtle to help.

It's a shame too, because what is here sounds like it could've been somewhat interesting, and with some changes to the chord progression, more work on the melody, and more variation in the percussion, "Got It On" could've been a fun little tune. But Em22 tries to stretch out less than a minute's-worth of musical material to fill 6 minutes, and that just doesn't work.

And did I mention he repeats that vocal clip 49 times?
