Don't let the title fool you, this is not techno. It's more something like Pet Shop Boys meets gamemusic. No, actually, I started thinking of Queen's track "Flash". Not in the sence that this was as good, just it had a similar atmoshpere somehow.

The track is an even soundwall all the way through with a few vocal samples thrown in here and there. The mix, well could be better, but it's not that bad either. The most noticeable thing is that there are occasions especially in what I'd call the chorus where it's just a general mish-mash. Instruments sometimes have a hard time finding a place in other words. Outside the chorus things work well on the other hand.

The drumprogramming leaves much to wish for. It's your basic 4/4. The drums in general seem to be a bit weak. They could have been raised in volume a couple of notches. Especially the hihat is almost non-existent.

What disturbs me most about this track is that it seems to be a demosampler for vocal samples. It sounds as if there's a background that runs through it all, and then you have the vocal samples that give the track some spice and a lot of cheese. In other words, the track totally fails to excite in any way.

On the plus side, the soloish outburst that the electric guitar or sawtooth do are very nice. The track does have some good melodies in it. The power of the track lies in these soloish melodies (playing from 2:20 about to 2:45 about for instance). A shame they're dragged through the mud by the cheesy vocals.

Back 2 the good'ol' 90's demo music years could be the motto of Samuele B's entry. As some 90's demo music, it sounds not too bad while it's still far from the masters of that genre (Lizardking, Elwood, Skaven, Purple Motion,...). For 90's demo scene nostalgic people.

Originality : Average (within the style). Sounds like too many demotunes I've heard before. The vocals add some originality but besides this, I could have heard such stuff back @ Assembly 1995... The intro synth arps are very classic and cliche. So even within demo music, it's nice, but not more. If you had entered it in a compo 10 years ago, it would probably have been played, but nowadays. Maybe a time machine is what this entry lacks the more of ?

Theme : It's a nice - but not extraordinaire - demo music melody. The main theme is a bit hard to remember. It has not the "immediate hit potential" songs like Pelle B. or Pyrozane's entry have, but still it's nice, especially for those who remember the golden years of tracking & demomaking. Hint : Or choose some more experimental ways, or choose more clearly the commercial way and compose themes that grabs you from the 1st listening and that play around in your head all day long. So your theme is not bad nor good. It's just a bit above the average.

Arrangement : Not bad for a demo tune. If this had been a Fasttracker song back 10 years ago, it would have been a classic mod. However, I'ld suggest Samuele B. to be more creative or atleast modern in his upcoming songs.

Technical : That's where it hurts. No VST, no MT FXs... did you know this is not an FT2 compo ? In fact, I think this is an old song you did on FT2 a few years ago and converted to MT2 just to enter this compo... Seems your technique didn't evolve since the 90's. OK, your info box says that your computer cannot run MT's modern features... but still, this is not a good enough reason not to give you the technical note I gave you. Consider upgrading your hardware for next years compo.
Besides this - and even if this is part of the demo style - there are many frequency overlaps in the mixing that makes it muddy. Try fixing this.

Quality : Average song - average grade.

Global : Not that bad after all, especially for old demo freaks like me. A nice song that would had desserved being entered in compoes a few years ago...

Also something that I'll probably copy-paste 3 billion times within this reviewing process : NAME YOUR TRACKS ! This would give your audiance and us judges a better view of how your track is built, will help newbies to learn how to use MT and to beat you in next year's compo :)
