Quite simple tune. Starting with the Titanic-theme, "Heart of the ocean", but some new melodies are added through-out the song. This song has it's best part in the beginning. Maybe the name should have been changed to "Heart of the ocean: Automotionalise Remix", because after all, the melody is the same.
It's built in a quite simple way and drums, percussions etc, goes pretty much the same all the way and they dont fit together that well.
This guy is only 14 years old and a very good artist for his age. Unfortunate for him, I dont really care about age when I review...

I must say I really have strong sympathy for the artist who made this; a 14 year old from Australia, who explains in a text file that he used to make music on the msx and can't use more than 12 tracks because of the limitations of his pc. Thinking back to the things I made when I was 14, I thought this could not be a good song. And to be honoust, compared to the rest of the entries it surely isn't. The song starts of with a scratch, and then a piano tune (to be more precise, the theme from Titanic). If you start of with a scratch, people expect something pumping, not just a piano melody. Put more in it from the beginning, so start of with phat pumping beats. Using a piano as a lead instrument isn't a proove of originality; find your own, unique samples. After some time a beats comes in, and then the tempo is speeded up, which sounds nice. After 2 minutes a good climax is build up, but the final mix is terrible; listen very carefully to the different instruments and change the volumes so that it becomes one whole song, instead of the sum of parts. At 2.40 it seems like a new song starts (with rather nice melodies and a more professional sound). The song is even transposed with the desired effect.
Overall conclusion; can't get excited from this, but with some basic improvements there is potential here! Work hard on the structure (try making a basic Intro-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus structure), the mix and the choice of instruments, and you will get there! |
