2. Loading VST plugins

The first step for using a VST plugin is to load it in MadTracker 2.5. There are two ways to do this: you can manually pick a VST plugin from your hard disk, or select one via the VST organizer of MadTracker. Both these methods can be performed either from the VST explorer as from the Mixer.

Manually load a VST plugin

  • click on the  VST symbol or open the  Mixer
  • click on the open folder icon
  • choose Load a new plugin...
  • select the VST plugin of choice via the browser
  • after selecting the VST plugin, click on Open. After loading, the VST plugin will appear in the VST browser

Load a VST plugin via the VST organizer

  • click on the  VST symbol or open the  Mixer
  • click on the  VST organizer icon
  • choose the category, and optionally the sub-category in which your VST of choice is located
  • click on the VST that you want to load. After loading, the VST plugin will appear in the VST browser

VST effects are automatically assigned to track 0. You can change this after loading (see point 4 for how to do this).
An instrument is automatically generated whenever a VST instrument is loaded. If one VST instrument is loaded for instance twice, then it will automatically be called ' #2'. The third identical VST instrument will be called ' #3' and so on.
If you load a VST plugin via the VST organizer while there are already plugins loaded, then two possibilities are available:
- if you have selected a VST plugin in the VST browser, then it will be replaced by the new plugin.
- if you haven't selected any plugin, then the new VST plugin will be loaded in a new slot.
