it would make a wave file look weird if the 3rd dimension were represented by color, so have say a medium color represent null, and right would grow warmer, and left grow colder. |

hmm.. this brings up an interesting idea, say in madtacker you have one part, and the color of the wave file would be a "cold" blue, or deep blue and as more parts come into the mix it gains warmth and brightness, so the more parts there are and the more active they fluctuate the more colorful and brighter the song file becomes. this would be a very unique way of looking at an audio file. it wouldnt be that hard, just export the song and have on the side color indexing created along side it, and a special viewer or something like that. |

Okay. Hardware-based 3d-goodies actually do exist
Alesis AirFX. It radiates infrared light, and measures the location of the object (such as a hand) above it concerning x, y and z axis. These three parameters can be assigned to either FX or oscillators for 3d sound manipulation and/or generation.
