Greetings

I'm a newbie and just trying to install MD2
It bring an error message, titled "MadTracker - DirectSound" and it says: "the parameter is incorrect"

and nothing plays..

and when the program starts, and I try to open anything, my computer almost freezes, and the mouse curser hardly moves

My hardware: AMD Athlon 700, 256mb ram, windows xp pro, creative 128 soundcard

Try using the standard Windows audio device. DirectX devices are slow. Furthermore, play with buffer size/number. Use the audioconfig test mt2 (I forgot its name, and I'm not at home) to tweak the audio settings for an ideal latency vs playback accuracy.
