As you have noticed, I'm barely around and haven't had time to work on MT lately...
MT3 has become quite a large project, and working on it alone is now extremely difficult. My spare time now is really limited, and it doesn't allow me to make substantial progress on MT3 anymore.
And since I hate to give up on things, especially on my "baby" I decided to make MT3 open-source. That doesn't mean you're going to have a download link with all the sources just yet. Instead, I want to arrange a team of volountary and dedicated developers who'd work together on MT3's sources. And when MT3 is ready for public beta-testing, the sources shall be published. I don't want to release the source of something that is not fully working.
To apply to be a MT3 developers, you should meet the following requirements:
- Experience with portable C/C++ programming
- Experience with audio programming
- Experience with graphic/UI programming
- Experience with assembler is a plus
- Experience with Linux is a plus
- Clean, organized person
- Experience with CVS/SVN (MT3 should be on SVN)
Drop me a mail if you're interested or know someone who'd be interested.
This new forum room is made to discuss the project. I am open to any suggestion regarding any aspect of the open-sourcing. I'm new to open-source, so I'll need good advices there in order to guarantee a good framework for the developers.
Thank you!

You don't grant Yannik the money? Shame on you. This software is really a bargain. There are many music software out there much more expensive with much less features.
Also, as MT3 is not done yet, you could and still can use MT2 with a clear conscience. I don't regret registering it for any second. |

Wrong discussion guys
It's great that this project becomes open source, so development doesn't stop. |

Would there be an opportunity to contribute in other ways? I'm not a programmer. Dedicated beta testing, documentation, etc? |

Beta testing is fun. Hit a key and see what happens. |

I'm sure there would be plenty of those kind of opportunities coplan. Madtracker can use volunteers on many bases. |

Right. I just ran across an old thread in another forum that mentioned MadTracker three was coming out, but no release date yet. The thread was dated May 2nd, 2002.............. |

It was indeed planned quite a long time, as the registration form mentions free updates up to at least 3.0. Apparently, there weren't any plans to release it as open source back then, as this restriction wouldn't make any sense with this in mind. |
