Okay okay , i think it's almost imposible (or not) ?
What about a (linux based) O.S. for madtracker , one that u can install in a multiboot enviroment, and has the ability to mount NTFS volumes ?
Why ? , coz Windows has to much overhead, i think a (minimal) linux based O.S. would improve the performance of Madtracker ... But hey it's just an idea .. The main problem would be the compatibility of all the VST's ??? Maybe it's just a stupid idea after all ...
I think it would be a hell of a job to port MT to Linux 2... or isn't it ?? |

MadTracker 3 will run on Linux, so doing a live CD with the bare minimum required to make it run is something possible. That would actually be fun.
But there's the problem of VST plugins indeed.

KEWL! yah that would be fun indeed ...
Pitty that almos all of the VST r really not compatible with Linux (only Windows and Mac os) , maybe in the future ?!? ..
update: i've found a forum where ppl tested some VST plugins in (jack_fst) Linux : http://www.djcj.org/LAU/ladspavst/
There are more VSTi plugins compatible with linux that i've hoped for , so yet another reason to look forward to MT3 |

In that line I just have to mention the strong need for OSX support. Steal ReNoise´s customers and let them use a tracker that is worth while! I for one would gladly pay and register one more time for that and pay more if thats an issue. Since I never have been a coder it´s hard for me to see how hard (or easy?) it is to convert the code to OSX? I miss my Madtracker and I´m contemplating buying a pc again just to use Madtracker on it... nothing else!! Save us from renoise please!!!
Thanks

Yes, good point, except a mac costs 3-4 times more... Really too bad Virtual PC is so slow on my Powerbook.. It would have solved it all...

Well I have the same problem, but anyway, friend of mine decided to wait about 2 months more then I and he can now run windows on his macbook pro...
Well anyway, I'm saving money for the new 'mac pro' ( the new power mac ), and I hope that mt will run on osx, because it's such a nice os
But, one problem remains, all the cool free vst's are windows only, so I guess I need to switch back and forth in the future anyway... |

well well... Will it still work with WIN98SE? Especially _this_ version only, becouse I am not going to use XP in _no_ way??
If it does not work with 98SE, then I must stick to the old version.
For linux there are also other trackers, but no MOTU midi express XT drivers and suitable sysex programs (.rpm based system). |
