What kind of synth are you looking for. old school analog, spacey strings and fx, Classic emulations or real instrument emulations ?
I have tried a lot of synths so I know quite a few.
You can find most synths on http://www.kvraudio.com/
Check out youtube as well, then search KVR Audio.

Some of the best developers are Ummet Ozcan (Check out Genesis), TAL (Togu Audio Line), ODO, E-phonic.
If you want a real spacey synth with reverb and fx, then try Cygnus. TAL Have some nice Juno 60 and SH-101 emulations and classic emulation you could search for the minimogue VA and the Arppe 2600 VA. B. Seranos. Adonis have some very nice and cool patches, but is a bit tricky to program. A nice Trancy synth is as allways SuperwaveP8 with it's nasty Supersaws but that comes with MT2 an alternative is Ummet Ozcan's Genesis, also very awsome and it has an 8 step sequenser build in (a bit pointless in MT2, but great for some quick jamming) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-32RY7UhNo&feature=related
If you want a Solina like sound tweak the Jarre string sound in Superwave, add a vst fx such as Sandford Phazer or TAL Phazer and It is close to classic Jean Michell Jarre sound. There are a very good free Melotron Clone called Nanotron, but it only makes 3 sounds, flute, choir and organ.
Good luck on your quest for free niceness. |
