I was wandering what headphones do you use. I want to buy some new ones and I would like your counsel. I'd like to spend 60 euros. Well, hope to read your response soon. See ya and thnx,

I use headphone model AKG K401, cost me about 130€ (on a discount). Guess that's a bit more than the 60€ budget you have, but let me give the ups and downs anyway 
Good:
+ they have a good overall sound, imo they work well for all kinds of music, from deep trembling house to funky jazz to classical music.
+ They still sound good after 7 or so years of massive abuse by me (and I'm talking almost daily use, several hours a day)
+ earpads are exanchable, meaning once you've got your sweat all over them you can easily exchange them for new ones (need to contact AKG directly afaik though)
Bad:
- The rubber bands that hold the headband have worn down, so the headphones more or less hang on my ears when I wear them these days = not so comfortable anymore (they where great when I got them though)
Still, after all these years I'm glad I put in the extra money it cost me back then. |

I use a Pioneer SE-5000, but I screwed them up a bit by overloading them many times (forget to check the volume) |

Sennheiser HD600 .. But they are a bit too expensive if you just want to spend 60 euros.

+ cheap as hell ($20 US)
+ great sound
+ been overloaded very very many times and still sound good. Hell I even caught them on fire with a space heater once and they still kick.
- becomes very uncomfortable after a few hours use. Then again, I have rather tender ears.
You may laugh, but these headphones sound just as good if not better than any other headphones I've seen at 5x the cost.

A lot of people say dont use them, but I use Sony MDR7506
+ they are made by Sony
- the can be a bit too bassey at times
- after an hour, they can become "heavy" on the ears

DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT
sony's plastic shit breaks after like 7 months, serious, if you're going to buy sonys then go get the 35 dollar versions. at least its only 35 to replace them and the sound is still great (i dont know what theyre called. but they're silver and small)
ps. when i get some batteries ill show you what happened to my 'prized' sony MDR-V500 headphones |

I've had two pairs, DJ'd all around the work with them. Not once have they let me down, or broken. I simply lost the other pair so I bought new ones, Im that confident in them.
Each to his own.
Finallly some sun in England !

thats a plus? what the hell are you on? 
i'll have to go with pimpjuse and completely disregard sony. they used to make great products, but these days it's all 'cheap' shit, even though it costs a lot.
sennheiser heaphones do it quite well. even the cheaper models (i had a pair of hd414 that had THE best sound i have ever heard on headphones and they cost $80 AUD). one bug with sennheisers is that if you pull out the connector from the headphone (the one that goes into the actual cup), you'll most likely never plug it back in successfully.

A lot of my compo entry was done using my Sony's on various train & plane journeys I have to do. Track doesn't sound that bad does it ?
The way you lot are going on, I'd have lost 9th place if I used my Sony's.

You count yourself lucky we judges didn't know about you using Sony headphones when making your compoentry. We would have had to kick you all the way down to the 90th row just because of that

To be honest, only reasong I'm not walking around with the exact same headphones as Andy is because I noticed when trying them on in the shop that they pressed down on my ears a bit too much for my liking. The sound in them however was just as good as in the AKG's I ended up buying. |

I wouldn't say that Sony makes shit, rather that they make headphones that are aimed for another market, namely the mobile sound market. The Sony headphones are good for a walk in the sun; low weight, low impendance (so it's easily driven with a small headphone amplifier), good sound!
Although, I can admit that some of their headphones products are too fragile. I've had a couple of them, and I was amazed by the sound, but not that much of the build quality. Though, as I said, plastic weighs a little..
