CHSR interview...

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm going to be interviewed on the air on CHSR in NB, Canada. The interview will take place during an independent music show that will run from 3-5pm NB time...and from 1-3 (-0600 GMT central time zone).

I'm going to try and give some props to madtracker in the interview somewhere....

If anyone is interested you can stream the show here-> http://www.unb.ca/chsr/home.html
I'm planning on recording it, so I can host the interview later on for those of you who missed it. Well...yeah..uh...yeah..later

Cool interview.

In your interview, you said that you record your guitar(s) and bass with Adobe Audition. What microphone do you use to record your guitar ?

Mine (Vivanco DM40) works OK for recording vocals, but all the stuff I tried to record from my (folk) guitar sounded just horrible (and not only because my playing is bad, I meaned it from the technical side).

Has someone a clue of what is the best microphone one could hook to a soundblaster card (both for guitar and vocals recording) ?

Other question : You told your CD is for sale on cdbaby.com . Do you know if they sell stuff in other languages than English too ?

Best regards,

TNK

I use a behringer compressor mic. It's currently at my brothers house, so I don't know exactly what kind (model number) it is, but I'll check it when it comes back home. I'm also recording through a sound blaster card, so there's a good similarity. I think that cdbaby sells music from international artists, as far as I know they're THE source for independent music. Now, as far as shipping goes, I'm not sure where they ship too, you might want to check into that...there site is www.cdbaby.com

Nice interview. Quite long for a listener who hasn't got a clue who or what Kmotiv is, but interesting for me to hear all this background information. But what is this college radio? I can't recall Holland having such a thing.

Inge

ps: it sounds like Dart Vader is hissing at the background all the time Wink

Thanks inge...college radio is basically a station that is run by a university for students who are studying radio broadcasting. It has lots of great benefits, such as you get to hear music that you wouldn't ever hear on mainstream radio...

..as for Darth Vader, I'm not really sure what that sound is, I could hear it the whole time I was on the phone though...so, possibly a bad connection of some sort? Smile

Big universities have such things in Europe too. I guess Amsterdam or Rotterdam's universities must have such radio stations. Their signal is weak, but they indeed play a lot of various music, especially the one that does not get to the mainstream radios

BTW, yesterday evening in a popular TV show "Tout le monde en parle" ("Everyone talks about it"), a producer broke in during the show and denounced the financial links between major companies and radios (that evil Payola alike stuff). He got applauded by the audiance...hehe Smile

Are there radio broadcasting classes in the US ? What do you learn there ? Technical stuff or radio hosting ?

32kbps MP3 + obviously average source recording (Adobe audition noise removal helps here) = Darth Vader in the background Smile

TNK...

ok. to record good sound here it is....

1. most importantly - preamp. to amplify signals and give a cleaner sound when recorded.

2. Audigy 2 (mine is mobile. but very good quality recording)

3. Nady Mic (Gold diaphram condenser mic) great for instruments as well as vox.

4. 75-year old condenser preformance mic. not kidding. they dont make them like they used to. this thing has wicked quality for rough drafts when i dont have the premp with me.

5. Tim Hortons coffee.. only in canada! Razz

6. Matilda. without her none of this would be possible.

PS. none of it is set up as i just got back from a wedding.
PPS. the studio mic and preamp cost me only 215$ canadian.
