Any smokers out there?

Completely nothing to do with music but,....

I have been a smoker for the past 7 to 8 years, getting increasingly heavier as the years progressed, that was until i read a book called Allen Carrs EASYWAY (?) to stop smoking - which i read, you can smoke as you read it, and hey presto - i am no longer addicted to the evil weed ;P - I also used to smoke the normal type of weed too - but all stopped now!!!

I can see imediate benefits, including increased energy, clarity of mind and my get up and go has been fully restored. The problem with smoking is that it gradually has an effect on your body which you don't notice as the years pass, if you do smoke - would you have had your first fag if you knew you would become addicted?...

Im not being a preacher man (but always believed I have been ;P ) but i would certainly suggest anyone wanting to stop smoking, or has a loved one who they want to stop to try this book....

at the end of the day, people say they enjoy smoking, but - think about it - humans do not need to fill there body with suffocating smoke to live life to the max!!

give it a go Smile

yours,
(much more healthier)

i smoke cigarettes, stopped puffing the magic dragon almost a year ago now. keep it up em, i'm still feeling the benifits. a clearer mind that's for sure. the legend about being less creative is absolute bullshit. you only have that the first couple of weeks maybe, just because you're pre-occupied with quitting maybe. i'm doing better when it comes to music now. doing better with a lot of things actually. i will quit cigarettes sometime too probably, now is just not the time for me. i just like the 'lifestyle' too much at the moment.

what is hip?

After 15 years of smoking (20 a day), I quit the disgusting habit one year ago. Reading the book really helped me. Really!

I used weed back in puberty, but I'm extremely sensitive to drugs. I tried using it for approximately three years, but everytime (really) gave up, got sick, got paranoid, and gave up in the end. I haven't done any drugs since I was 19 or something (so that's about five years now).

As for normal smoking: as Walter said, it's part of my current lifestyle. I've been smoking for about ten years now, and it's just a part of who I am (or that's what I tell myself Smile).
On the other hand: the improved health sounds very attractive to me. Furthermore, being as autonomous as one can be (apart from religion, that is), being addicted to something strongly conflicts with my view on how I want to be.

Therefore, I'll keep the book in mind. I currently lack the conviction to quite smoking, I'm afraid. Or does that book also overcomes that problem?

That is that *last* thing I wanted to hear Wink

[Okay okay. I'll see if I can find a copy of the book. Maybe Yannick should make it part of the registration contents?]

Inge,

The book reverses the brain washing that people attach to smoking. When people try to stop off their own back, they think they are "giving up" smoking, and so the brains believes it now missing out - which isnt really true, if you stop smoking you clearly are giving your body a well needed health boost.

Just before xmas my work place banned smoking, which made it very difficult for the smokers to enjoy their fags, having to venture off the property to have a quick puff, and this made me feel like i wasnt ready for stopping - it made me want to smoke even more! but a friend read the book after he and his wife stopped, and he said give it a go and it became clear how people easily get into the nicotine trap without realising, the book explains this in a fantastic way.

i too used to smoke weed but found near the end that i was incredibly paranoid about everything and everyone, and i didnt put that down to the smoking - now i dont it seems quite obvious! I also noticed that since i started smoking, my prodcutive side decreased and i found it harder and harder to get anything musically done - now this is the reverse - and im soooooo happy i have realised this now and not in another 25 years!

i just feel so happy about it all i want people to just give it a go....

and no, mr carr isnt paying me for any of this! lol!

hehe!

i just care ;P

(pukes!)

The book is an excellent read and its kinda hard to describe the way it works, but it does, and its worked for about 4 of my friends - i think you can get it on amazon fairly cheap.. do give it a go, its really good.

If I wanted to stop smoking I would just go to Denmark and get a doctor to shoot a laser beam into my ear. And no, I'm not joking , there actually is such a thing. and apperantly it works very well. The prize is just around 55 euro, cheap, simple, fast and you don't need to read.

[ergo: a link to an article would be nice]

laser in your ear? sounds quite strange, what would a laser in your ear help to do to defeat a nicotine addiction?

basically, smoking is a drug addiction, you're addicted to the nciotine - its the fastest drug to become addicted too, on cig can do it. I cant see how someone pulsing some light into you ear canal would benefit you, unless theres some sort of trick-no-therapy going on.

ooh, imagine if it shone out the other side??

lol

Then you could use your head as a flashlight. Ideal for gloomy travels through the forest. I think.

hehe yea I know it sounds silly don't really get it myself but apperantly it wored on my friends grandfather who smoked his whole life and after the laser thingy he didn't feel a bit addicted to nicotine and havn't smoked a single fag since. but I think it has something to do with stimulating the area of the brain which the addiction is "created" dunno...

Inge, I got no webblink sorry. But I guess either spock or google has an answer for you, don't have time for that now need to haste to work.

sorry for my crappy english right now....

Smoking and drinking go hand in hand, amigos. Can you fish without bait? Can you fly without wings? Can you bang a hot chick without that awkward moment afterwards when you're like "who the hell are you and damn you aint so pretty now that I look at you closer"? Indeed, a cig is a beautiful thing.

ahh Enon, ...

Unwise words as usuall... smoking and drinking dont go hand in hand, your brain makes you think that way due to the nicotine addiction. Since stopping i can happily drink till i fall over and not want a fag....

I thought you Enon, would of realised the nicotine trap and not become a part of it, being the rebel which you are - can you not see - humans dont need fags, smoking a fag doesnt actually do anything for you - it doesn make you drunk or run faster, or cooler or more relaxed - it does absolutly nothing for you! The brain tricks you into thinking you are benefitting from choking your lungs because its getting its nicotine fix. They were created by the tabacco companies to make money from you, and it seems you are filling their pockets Smile

hows that?

Razz
