Posted: Tue Feb 05 2008 10:23 a new modules only label is about to start |
 |
A friend of mine and I are about to start a mondules only label. We want to show that good music also can be very small in sound AND size! And of course we are looking for artists to join this mission.
You wanna join? Just read this very easy points:
#1 Filetypes: We don't prefer any file format. It doesn't matter if you use FastTracker, ProTracker or any other tracker that exists out there. Possible file formats are: XM, MOD, S3M, IT, NSF, MID and every other tracker file format. You can even mix formats on your release. But the users and we should be able to play your songs without searching the whole internet for a suitable player!
#2 Information: Give us information about you, your music and how you made it. Also tell us the best player for it. Maybe your music has a story behind it, tell it! Add your homepage and/or myspace adresse if available.
#3 Send it: Just send your stuff to pixelmod doto records ata goooglemail doto com. We're looking forward hearing your tunes! You can also send in some demo-tunes if you don't have enough stuff to fill a complete release yet.
The label will start very soon. Everything is prepared to bring you the best modules on earth!!!!! |

So euh.. well.. we want the music to be heard right?
well.. giving out mod files is not going to reach that goal. The tracker community is rather small (compared to the whole music community, or anyone who listens music), better to give out MP3's imo.. |

Well what player(s) are you gonna use?
Cause of VST´s it might be difficult playing several .mods in Madtracker. |

mainly DeliPlayer 2. DP plays like hundreds of different formats and that's enough for just listening to stuff. additionally the most common mods (MOD, IT, S3M, XM, UMX) can be imported by MT. |

but why would you want to create a new mod group with old formats? surely that limits us in what we can create?
have you had any joy from old scenes? m0no, KFMF? anyone we might of heard of joining up, or are we all on the wrong side of 30?!

Sure, I would be interested, mostly in buying good mod's but ive got a few I could tune up for release for sure.
It is a good idea, mod's are versatile, I can isolate single tracks from a tune or even just the drums and so-fourth. Try and do that while spinning .mp3 or vinyl. |

Do the songs have to be in album form or whatever.
Or can you just have like 1 or 2 songs to send. |

the more the better. or maybe you find somebody else to do a split release. but you can also send in these two tunes as a demo and write some more until you have a full album. I think it should be at least 4 tracks. |

Sample your vst's. It isn't hard at all. In fact, the entire thing can be done in madtracker!

cause it´s ... for nuts?
if i start sampling every pattern of a complex multi-osc synthesizer with arp and trancegate the whole song would just be made out of big wavefile blocks. and i think thats not the sense and does even not show the skill of the musician.
modules just made out of samples are already dead for a long time (even since vst is possible), so i see a not too small problem for the project you want to fullfill. |

Umm... Well, that's another thing to add to madtracker 3.
Embed vst's!

Samples FTW! I don't think those vst's really capture the
TRUE spirit of trackers. |
