I agree.
Now, quick and simple (and said before):
VST = Effects.
VSTi = Instruments.
VST = Like MPReverb, or Filter, or Stereo Delay, y`know, they're just like track effects, just different.
VSTi = Just like sound samples. Only difference is you can edit them within MadTracker to your heart's content.
Get it? Got it? Good.
Make music goddammit!

No no no, you've both misunderstood. They're like something else, but they're the same.
I think.

noo this is way to confusing for me, I'll never use another vst again, why can't you just use your old samples, I prefer xi samples... left??? |

Well I use VST to expand the sound at some places, sure you can create tracks with them only but once you got a good MTI-instrument you are happy with why not use it? Another point is the cpu consumption and you can easyly freeze your PC. Its all a matter of taste you can be creative in a lot of ways and if you want to go the harder way do it I really love VSTis so many nobs and changing possibilities ;D.

To start with,you didn't ask a question at all. What you did do was complain about VST use in MT.
Let me think....I'll stop using xp because it has a (insert whatever function you will) i don't like,and luckely no one is forcing me to use it... Get it? |

Nothing.. the minute you take something of another song which belongs to someone else it'll be illegal when you release it.
But I don't think you'll be in much trouble if you do it though (unless you release commercially or on a netlabel).
So by all means, rip and remix to your hearts content and let us hear the results |

In the tracking scene it is good manners though to first ask the person you rip your samples from, or at the very least to give them credit in the parameters/info box. But if you get commercial, like blaster said, you're basically not allowed to take anything without explicit permission from each person that you took a sample from, no matter how short the sample is.
here is some interesting reading about samples etc:

As said b4;nothing,but in the olden days i think there was a rule of 3.5seks. Shame it's not like that nemore...
Edit: check out this page http://www.highabove.no ,and listen to a track called "Good Thing". It's a remix of a D'Angelo tune that got sent to Virgin,i think,by a guy from Estereo who was trying to push it to them...he, ofcourse hadn't heard the orig. and the Virgin guy got just a tad pissed-off.. |
