I have some problems with my internet connection (ADSL) momentarily Sad so it could be difficult to put my newest songs online very fast. Sad Called several Helpdesks, but they don't seem to have a clue what the problem is (probably a weak signal during 'high traffic inet hours').

Anyway, I have submitted Naiad at a certain website. Probably it will be accepted in a day or two. If it is I will send you all a link where you can find a 192 kb version of the song. (it was dance-industries.com)

I also discovered www.ctgmusic.com (hosted by Yannick himself) where I made an artist page for myself. If any song is online, this will be the first place I'll put it on. Nevertheless, a message on this forum will always be present (as long as my inet works Smile ) Because I'll always use Madtracker to mix things together Smile.

Summary: I'll post all my songs in high quality. They will probably be online in a week or so...

...

And about the peer2peer topic: use direct connect. Also great for finding VSTi's (for the ones who are interested)

Naiad is online Smile. It's quality is 192kb/s. I agree with you again that I have to do more remastering. I'll try to remaster some more when creating a next song.

Some quick thoughts on "Naiad" before I go to bed Smile You're right, it would need more mixing and some mastering. Basically, what I believe is the problem qualitywise is that you've got too much going on in the low-midrange, perhaps too much reverb on some instruments, which creates a low quality, muddy sound. You need to clear up that area, pull back on some of the reverb, play around with some EQing and so on, create space for the individual instruments. Perhaps there's even some sample quality issues, I'm not sure (the leadstrings sound pretty low quality for instance). I hear some overall distortion also. Sounds a bit as if you've pushed the levels too high in order to get closer to the "commercial" sound. A quick check in Cool Edit Pro indeed shows that the sound is clipping very often. Now, since it's clipping this often I'm not sure if there an issue with my soundcard, or if the audio really is clipping this much, cause I think you should have been able to hear this distortion and correct it before releasing the tune.

Now that was the technical part. As for pure theme, I'm sorry, but the lead melody doesn't do it for me in any way (is it a sampled loop btw.? cause it seems to cut oddly at several points, at 3:40 for instance). You use a fairly standard trance synth, in a fairly standard manner. Your bassline and drumkit seem to be pretty standard. Originality would be around 3 perhaps on a 0 to 10 scale (10 being best).
I do however like the background atmoshpere you've created. Those windpipe like sounds that play around in the background throughout the song create a really cool, nocturnal atmoshpere Smile

In conclusion, mainstream trance is what I'd call this, and in my book it's not a positive description. No doubt there are people who'll love this song though, once the technical issues get sorted out at least.

not such quick thoughts after all Very Happy

(ps. I would be interested to know if the sound is clipping on other people's systems also. Because if it isn't, then I seem to have a problem with my soundcard Confused )

Let's not master this song then. Let's try to work on newer songs which have all the points solved that you mentioned. I have enough ideas, so.. That could be no problem. Nevertheless, I'll keep on creating various types of songs to expand my horizons Smile. (even songs like this one - but better mastered and a better sound-quality - I hope )

Yesterday and today I've started creating another song (again?) -- yes again. This time I tried to improve mastering a bit and I tried to work with a climax. Unfortunately, the song got messier every pattern Sad. Nevertheless... Give me your opinion. Should I continue mastering this song or is it just not worth it?

( In low quality, because I still have limited diskspace on my Planet Internet account )

Mastered it a bit. Simplified it a bit. Changed it a bit.

So... It's just a bit better. I will leave it as it is Smile.

Please check it out. It is a bit original I think Wink.
