Isaac found this nice academic sampling project - they have some acoustic instruments (cello, double basses, saxes, etc) recorded in high quality: http://theremin.music.uiowa.edu/MIS.html |

Yeah, just when I found it too. Phooey and other comments.
G3ronimo got all of them though, he says. Bug him to send you some.
Okay, I got some too. Cello bowed, Cello plucked, Bassoon, Clarinet, Double Bass plucked, Flute, French Horn, Oboe, Saxophone (Alto and Soprano), Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Viola and Violin.
All are one-note samples, so drop me a line if you want them. |

maybe a torrent could be created? after all the samples were free to distribute weren't they? I'd love to get my hands on them and this way we all help uploading it to everyone that wish to have this project here on mt.org. |

Um......... yeah. However you do that.......
Someone tell me where to send them and I'll let someone else establish that.
And yes, they are free, no copyright or anything. The site was very clear about that part. And they are top quality, done with mics and DACs I would LOVE to have. |

Picky, picky, picky. They took professional recordings of a wide variety of instruments, played in different ways, with top quality mics, DACs and software, made it all available for FREE....... What more do you want, they write them to soundfonts for you? |

that would be nice yes
when recording like this it's not so much hassle to bundle it all up at the same time. it's just too much work for every user to download and fix this themself imo. I might be lazy but the fact that it was seperate wav files made me not download it.
might add that if I rally needed samples like this I would ofcourse grab it since it's free. and all the best to the ones who recorded the stuff... |
