everytime i add a new pattern, it's identical to the last one, and i can't change it with the corresponding arrows. i seem to remember that is how it's done, but i'm only working on instinct here. this is obviously quite annoying since i can't make more than one pattern in a song. i fear i'll be ridiculed for asking this question, but i'm desperate |

Just press insert and then use the small up/down buttons (to the right of the pattern #)to go to the next unused pat. You also have the pattern chooser below the BPM counter and that basically does the same |

and when i try to change the newly inserted pattern with the arrows, i can change the numeric values of the pattern, but it still contains the notes from the old pattern |

It does. I just tested it to make sure that I don't overlook anything. In the new pattern manager, the following information is valid:
Click on either INS or INS+. Clicking on INS will result in a copy of the currently selected pattern (changes made in the copy will also be made in the original pattern, since they are equal). Clicking on INS+ will result in a new pattern that contains the same information information of the currently active pattern inside a new pattern. Changes made in this new patter will not influence the original pattern.
To explain the numbers: the first row is the sequential number of the pattern. This simply states which place it takes in the entire sequence of patterns. The second row indicates the actual pattern. If you have two patterns with the same number, then changes inside one of them will also change the other. The third row is the name of the pattern, and is arbitrary.
Hope this helps. If not, please post again.
